Consider The Airline Restrictions For Your Hartmann Luggage
If you are about to pack your Hartmann Luggage for an extended journey, you should be aware of the size and weight restrictions of the airline that you are traveling with for both carry-ons and checked baggage. Luggage such as the Intensity Expandable Mobile Traveler should be able to fit nicely within the guidelines that most airlines enforce for carrying on or checking baggage, but larger pieces might pose a problem. There are also restrictions on the number of wheeled luggage pieces you can carry on or check.
It's always important to check with the airline before bringing any wheeled luggage to the airport, but in most cases the size restrictions for a carry-on are 14" to 16" high, 21" to 24" wide, and 8" to 9" deep. The smaller end of those size ranges are for the Hartmann luggage that you can stow under the seat on the airplane, and the larger end of the size ranges are for the luggage you can stow in the overhead compartment. The Intensity Expandable Mobile Traveler should fit within the limitations for placing in the overhead compartment, and a smaller duffel bag can be placed underneath the seat.
Your Hartmann Luggage should also not exceed 40 pounds when fully packed to be carried on or checked at most airlines, although some airlines a larger size and weight for your first bag but have more restrictive limits for additional bags. The limitations for your wheeled luggage might also vary depending on whether you are taking a domestic or international flight, so it is always a good idea to check ahead. The limits for wheeled luggage are much more strictly enforced then in the past - bags are weighed at check-in and many airlines have placed bag-seizers at their gates.
A high quality piece such as the Intensity Expandable Mobile Traveler will be fine as long as it's packed correctly, but it's important to call ahead and find out what the restrictions are. Also be prepared to pay a fee in some cases for the first piece of checked luggage.
