Packing Tips
Hartmann offers a variety of luggage styles, shapes and sizes. Packing smart begins with selecting the luggage that meets your travel needs, including the length of your trip, the types of personal items you'll be taking, and whether you prefer to check your bag or carry it on. For wrinkle-proof traveling, choose a bag that can be firmly packed but not overpacked.
Packing smart starts with good planning and preparation. Here are some easy, but worthwhile tips:
- Button, zip and fasten all garments
- When packing, distribute the weight evenly to prevent shifting of the contents and make your bag easier to carry.
- Use plastic dry cleaner bags to slip over clothing before folding to reduce wrinkles. Re-use the plastic bags to keep wet or soiled items separate during travel.
- Roll socks, undergarments, and belts and place inside shoes. Use shoe bags whenever possible, placing shoes in a heel-to-toe position.
- For toiletries, carry small amounts and use plastic bottles. Make sure tops are on securely.
- Pack tightly, using soft clothing you can roll up to fill in gaps and corners.
Airline Carry-on Regulations
The FAA does not regulate the acceptable size for carry-on luggage; therefore every airline has its own rules and restrictions. If you are unsure as to whether your bag will meet airline carry-on size requirements, please check with your airline before traveling. The following information provides specific restrictions for the largest U.S. airlines.

Airline Damage
If your bag has been damaged by an airline, you should immediately file a claim with that airlines baggage services at the airport. If you cannot file a claim immediately, you should do so as soon as possible. Some airlines have limits on the amount of time you have to file a claim. The baggage service official will examine the bag and instruct you how to proceed. If you do not notice the damage until you have returned home, you may call the airport or the baggage services number for your airline.
How do I add wheels to my Woodbox Pullman?
- Locate gliders on bottom of case. Insert Tool into slot of glider tongue and depress with an outward motion. Slide glider off toward middle of case. Slide caster onto base, placing the two Swivel Casters adjacent to the end where the ring and holder are. Then attach the Rigid Casters to the other end. (Attach caster by aligning flanges with the slots of the base, slide toward outside of case until locked in place - See Figure A1.)
- Attach the Snap of the coordinating Pull Strap to the ring on the end of the case. (When not in use, the strap may be tied around handle - See Figure A2.)
